A playset that is no longer used can take up valuable yard space. Planning playground or swing set removal starts with understanding how the structure is supported, what it is made of and how dismantled pieces can leave the property.
Photograph the structure before touching it
Take a wide photo that shows the whole playset, then closer views of the supports, platforms, slide and attached accessories. Tell CM about rotted timber, loose connections or rusted metal. Keep children away from damaged equipment while you arrange removal.
Do not loosen supports to speed up the job. Elevated platforms and partly dismantled frames can shift unexpectedly. Dimensions and photos give the crew a better starting point than a pile created without a removal plan.
Identify anchors and concrete footings
A structure sitting on the lawn is not necessarily freestanding. It may be anchored into the ground, fixed into concrete or connected to fencing. Describe anything you know about how it was installed and show accessible connections in your photos.
Footing excavation, filling holes and lawn restoration are separate questions. Ask what the quote includes and what condition the yard will be left in. If ground disturbance is proposed, discuss appropriate underground-utility precautions before anyone digs.
Check the route out of the yard
Gate width, slopes, planting beds and the distance to truck parking affect handling. A playset may need to be dismantled into pieces that fit the route. Avoid promising that a fence panel can simply be removed unless the property owner has agreed.
For projects in Westport, Greenwich and across Connecticut, share the actual access conditions rather than relying on a town name. If a property manager or association controls access, confirm any restrictions before arranging a visit.
- Show gates and narrow paths.
- Explain concrete anchors or attached structures.
- List loose outdoor items to remove at the same time.
- Agree on the expected ground and cleanup condition.
Put the full project into one request
Include the playset’s size, materials, approximate age if known and all other yard clutter you want considered. Reuse and recycling depend on condition and receiving-facility acceptance. Mixed wood, metal and plastic may need different disposal arrangements.
Choose Playground & Swing Set Removal in CM’s estimate form or call 203-726-1273. Your request starts the scope discussion; it does not confirm a price, excavation work or an appointment until agreed.
